WHAT: Nassau County Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) and Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) are partnering with assessment expert Jeff Gold, a former member of the Nassau County Board of Assessors and a former commissioner of the Assessment Review Commission (ARC), to host an in-person assessment grievance workshop at the Freeport Recreation Center at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
During this workshop – the Legislators’ third each of the 2025 grievance period - Gold will show taxpayers who disagree with their assessment how to navigate the online grievance process and dispute their assessment.
“With decades of experience, Jeff Gold is especially well equipped to guide Nassau County homeowners through filing a grievance without paying an outside service,” Legislator Koslow said. “At a time when our tax rolls remain frozen and badly out balance, grieving is a powerful tool for protecting your family from over taxation and potentially reducing your taxes. I invite anyone who has not yet completed a grievance to join us and learn more about how best to exercise their rights as property owners.”
“There is no downside to filing a grievance, and we are grateful that Jeff Gold is taking the time to share his decades of experience navigating the assessment system with our constituents,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “With the deadline to file a grievance fast approaching, I encourage anyone who has questions to join us at the Freeport Recreation Center for what promises to be a very informative evening.”
