(FREEPORT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) congratulated talented athletes from Freeport High School for their accomplishments during the recently concluded winter 2023-24 season.
Legislator Koslow recognized Boys Track Athlete of the Year Jordon Quinn, who finished second in the New York State 55 High Hurdles and will be attending UCONN on scholarship. He is pictured above, left with Head Coach Charles Gilreath and Assistant Coach Elmer Argueta.
Freeport’s outstanding co-ed varsity cheerleading team, which finished second in the co-ed class at the New York State championships in Binghamton on March 2. They qualified for States by capturing the Nassau County Championships on Feb. 17, was also honored. In addition to their performance in States, they won the UCA Empire Regional competition in Small Varsity Division 1, captured semifinal and quarterfinal berths at the UCA National Championships, and posted an undefeated season in their Nassau division competition.

The success of these outstanding young athletes illustrates the important role that robust sports programs and extracurricular activities play in keeping our youth focused, disciplined, and striving for greater achievements,” Legislator Koslow said. “It was a thrill to recognize these accomplished athletes and congratulate them for all of their impressive accomplishments.”
