(MERRICK, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) once again had the privilege of serving as a guest reader during the Merrick Union Free School District’s Community Read Aloud at Levy Lakeside Elementary School on Friday, Jan. 17.
Legislator Koslow joined a group of business leaders, community members and other school family members in reading to students during the Pick a Reading Partner (PARP) event, which was organized jointly by the Lakeside PTA and school librarian Melissa Levine. With Martin Luther King Jr. Day right around the corner, Legislator Koslow read Yolanda Renee King’s “We Dream a World: Carrying the Light from my Grandparents Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King” to Miss Rosenberg’s fifth-grade class.
“It is always a pleasure to support our local school community, and events like PARP that encourage students to develop a lifelong love for reading are a highlight for me as a father with children in Merrick schools,” Legislator Koslow said. “The success of this annual tradition is a great tribute to the hard work of the Lakeside PTA and the entire Lakeside Elementary team, and I am so thankful for all they do to make this such a special day!”
