(MERRICK, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) proudly supported the ninth annual Coffee with a Cop Day with Nassau County Police Department (NCPD) Commissioner Patrick Ryder and NCPD First Precinct officers at RS Beanery Coffee on the afternoon of Wednesday, Oct. 2.
Launched in 2011, Coffee with a Cop is a nationwide initiative that seeks to build trust, foster a sense of community, and help police connect with residents and get to know each other over a cup of coffee. Organizers said the Merrick event was one of the more than 15,000 held, with events happening in each of the 50 states and in 40 countries.
“Communication is essential to strong relationships between police and the communities they are entrusted with serving and protecting – and events like Coffee with a Cop Day help to build a rapport that benefits all of us,” Legislator Koslow said. “It was a pleasure to join Commissioner Ryder and our officers for this gathering, and I thank RS Beanery Coffee for hosting this event.”
