(BELLMORE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) partnered with the New York State Department of Labor and local business leaders, social services agencies, and career counselors to host a Job and Resource fair For Veterans at Temple Beth Am of Merrick and Bellmore on Monday, Nov. 4.
The event featured 50 providers – 32 employers and 18 resource providers – who were on hand to connect veterans, active-duty service members and their families with employment prospects and essential resources to help them get them on the right track. These included representatives from various industries; providers of resume building tips, interview coaching and veterans-specific resources; networking opportunities with veteran support organizations; free workshops, and more. Attendees also enjoyed the talents of the Freeport High School Sinfionetta Orchestra, which performed throughout the event.
“With Veterans Day fast approaching, our thoughts turn to how we can best serve and support the men and women who courageously enlisted in our armed services to protect our freedoms and our way of life,” Legislator Koslow said. “Because Nassau County has one of the largest veteran populations of any community in America, it is even more pivotal to ensure these patriots have every opportunity to thrive in their civilian lives. I am thankful to the Department of Labor, Temple Beth Am and all of the organizations that joined us to give back to the people who so dutifully served our nation.”
