(MELVILLE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Seth I .Koslow (D – Merrick) joined Long Island Families Together (LIFT) at the Melville Marriott for their 20th annual Legislative Breakfast on Thursday, Oct. 17. Focusing on a theme of “LIFT Up the Champions for Long Island Families,” the breakfast included presentations from elected officials, parent and youth speakers including Freeport’s Joseph Anthony Smith (right photo) and program spotlights on the Healthy Minds Healthy Kids statewide caregiver council and the Long Island Mental Health Professional Expansion Program at Long Island University.
LIFT is a parent-governed, youth-guided, 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that was created to raise awareness about children's mental health services on Long Island and across New York State. LIFT’s mission is focused on delivering positive changes to the lives of the families and youth they serve across Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
“Every family deserves access to the mental health and wellness resources they need to thrive, and LIFT is instrumental in making that a reality,” Legislator Koslow said. “I was grateful for the opportunity to speak at their legislative breakfast, and it was especially inspiring to hear from parents and youth speakers as they shared their concerns, insights, and visions for how to best serve families throughout our region.”
