Koslow and Mule - Freeport NAACP

(FREEPORT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislators Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) and Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) commemorated Black History Month with the Freeport-Roosevelt Branch of the NAACP on Saturday, Feb. 24 during a special “Hidden Figures” family celebration of Black History Month spearheaded by the Freeport – Roosevelt branch’s Youth and College Division. The day’s honorees included including parents, grandparents, teachers, and student leaders.

“The lessons we teach as parents are a powerful catalyst for our children and the paths they pursue in their lives,” Legislator Koslow said. “The Freeport – Roosevelt NAACP’s impressive team of educational activists and youth leaders are doing amazing work to empower their communities, and it was truly uplifting to be present as they paid tribute to the people who inspired them to give back and get involved in building a better, more inclusive future.”

“These young leaders and the entire Freeport – Roosevelt Branch did a tremendous job in showing how the richness of Black history is found in every community in Nassau County and all across America,” Legislator Mulé said. “This event was a powerful reminder of the importance of organizations like the NAACP in championing civil rights and equality for all and sends a message to all of us to recognize, uplift, and amplify Black voices each and every day.”
