(FREEPORT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) visited the Woodward Children’s Center on Saturday, June 8 for a special basketball game against local Freeport first responders.
The day of friendly competition, which featured a barbecue and music by the Mayhem Long Island band, is a longstanding tradition for the school. Since opening its doors in 1957 under the direction of Freeporter Gertrude Berman, Woodward has been providing inclusive and supportive educational services for students with special needs.
“For nearly seven decades, the Woodward Children’s Center has been providing outstanding educational services that help students prepare for further education, employment, and independent living,” Legislator Koslow said. “I was proud to support this event and all that the dedicated staff at Woodward do for the children they serve on a daily basis.”
