(FREEPORT, N.Y.) – The day before Thanksgiving on Wednesday, Nov. 27, Nassau County Legislators Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) and Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) pitched in at the annual Nassau County Winter Stand Down at the Freeport Armory. There, more than 525 veterans received turkeys, food, coats, boots, pillows, socks and other essentials. Attendees were also connected with resources to ensure their needs are met throughout the winter and all year long.

“Our veterans have given so tremendously of themselves to serve and protect our nation, and it is our responsibility to ensure that no service member is ever left behind,” Legislator Mulé, ranking member of the Nassau Legislature’s Veterans committee, said. “I applaud Veterans Services Agency Director Ralph Esposito for spearheading this event and thank our veterans for all they have done for America.”

“Nassau County is home to more than 40,000 veterans, and as a grateful nation we have a duty to ensure their fundamental needs are addressed,” Legislator Koslow said. “With Thanksgiving on the horizon, it was especially meaningful to be a part of an event where the community comes together to support and assist our veterans. Thank you to all who contributed to helping those who have served our country!”
