Legislator Koslow Partners with Bellmore-Merrick School Community

WHAT – Nassau County Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) is proudly joining forces with the Bellmore-Merrick school community, the Nassau County Police Department, parent groups, anti-drug advocates and his colleagues in government as a cosponsor of a drive-through “Shed the Meds” event at the Brookside School in North Merrick on Saturday, Oct. 26.

From 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., residents will have the opportunity to dispose of unused, unwanted and/or expired medications securely and anonymously. Participants are reminded that thermometers, IV bags, liquids and chemotherapy drugs will not be accepted, and are advised to keep all medications in original containers and block out names on the pill bottle for anonymity, without crossing out medication information. Syringes and sharps will be accepted at this event.

“This upcoming shed-the-meds event is a shining example of what we can accomplish by working together. This partnership between the First Precinct and stakeholders from all parts of the Bellmore-Merrick community gives Nassau County residents a safe and secure way to ‘drive up, drop off and drive away,’ knowing that they have done their part to protect the environment and prevent drug abuse and misuse in our community,” Legislator Koslow said. “I am proud to co-sponsor this event, and I invite anyone with unwanted or expired medicine to take advantage of this important opportunity.”
