WHAT – In accordance with the observance of Earth Day in America, Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D - Freeport), Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) and New York State Assemblymember Judy Griffin will join forces with the South Shore Conservation Society, The Green Army, Pride on the Mile and the Freeport Rotary Club for an Earth Day community clean-up at Freeport’s Brookside Preserve on Saturday, April 26.
Garbage bags will be provided by organizers; participants are encouraged to bring pokers, rakes, grabbers, gloves and other supplemental tools. To safeguard against ticks and other hazards, attendees are encouraged to wear long sleeves, pants, socks, and other protective attire.
“This Earth Day service project is a wonderful Freeport tradition that brings our community together to protect the planet and make our home a more beautiful place,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “I am thrilled that our community is coming together once again to give Brookside Preserve some much-deserved springtime TLC.”
“At a time of year that is all about celebrating our planet and protecting it for our children and our children’s children, one of the great things we can do right now is roll up our sleeves and make one of our great natural treasures more beautiful and pristine,” Legislator Koslow said. “I’m excited to once again be a part of an event that has brought Freeport together for such an important reason.”
Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to RSVP with Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé’s office at 516-571-6206 or dmule@nassaucountyny.gov.
