(BALDWIN, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) on Thursday, Dec. 19 presented a $50,000 grant to the food pantry at the Roman Catholic Church of St. Christopher in Baldwin. The Legislature voted unanimously on Wednesday, Nov. 20 in favor of releasing American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding in support of the 501 (c)3 not-for-profit organization’s hunger-fighting outreach and programs.
“For so many years, the leaders and volunteers of the food ministry at St. Christopher’s have made a tremendous impact by delivering essential nutrition assistance to families in Baldwin and neighboring communities,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “I am truly excited to see how they will apply these funds toward propelling their good works into the new year, and I thank my colleagues for voting unanimously to support their philanthropic mission.”
“On behalf of our entire outreach team here at St. Christopher’s Parish, we would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the Nassau County Legislature for its consideration and support of our food pantry,” Julius Cespedes, Social Ministry Coordinator, said. “This generous contribution will go a long way to keep our shelves consistently stocked and to provide for those who are struggling to make ends meet; as we continue to recover from the severe impact of Covid.”
