(OCEANSIDE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) partnered with the Nassau County Department of Assessment to bring the Homeowner Exemption Liaison Program (HELP) to the Oceanside Public Library on Monday, Aug. 19, delivering personalized service to dozens of homeowners seeking assistance with their tax exemptions. Department of Assessment staff provided one-on-one assistance with filing for veteran, senior citizen, Cold War veteran, volunteer firefighter and ambulance worker, and limited-income disability exemptions. Enhanced STAR applications were also processed for homeowners already enrolled in the STAR program prior to Jan. 2, 2015.
“I was so pleased to see a packed room of Oceanside residents taking time to ensure they were receiving every tax exemption that they earned and were entitled to receive,” Legislator Mulé said. “H.E.L.P. Workshops make this process of filing for exemptions easy and user-friendly, and I thank John McQuade and his entire team for sharing their expertise with our constituents.”
All HELP sessions are from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. Participants are asked to arrive no later than one half-hour prior to the scheduled end time for the event and are encouraged to make copies of their 2023 federal and state tax income returns, along with required documentation listed on the exemption application, prior to attending the program. For more info or to receive a list of necessary documentation, call the Nassau County Department of Assessment at 516-571-1500.
