(BETHPAGE, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) met with officials of The Safe Center LI and received an eye-opening tour of the multifaceted organization’s headquarters on Monday, April 15.
Created in 2014 through the merger of the Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence (CADV)and the Coalition Against Child Abuse & Neglect (CCAN), The Safe Center LI focuses on helping victims of domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault rebuild their lives. Their highly trained and compassionate staff connects clients with a broad spectrum of free and confidential services, including crisis intervention, counseling, legal advocacy, and housing assistance, to enhance the recovery of trauma victims and their non-offending family members.
In addition, The Safe Center LI works closely with law enforcement, healthcare professionals, and other community partners to ensure that survivors receive the holistic support they need, and strongly emphasizes prevention and education in its programs and workshops to raise awareness about domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault.
“The Safe Center LI is a vital organization that plays a critical role in advocating for the rights and well-being of victims of domestic violence, child abuse and sexual assault,” Legislator Mulé said. “As a social worker, I am keenly aware of the challenges these victims face, and I thank each and every person involved with The Safe Center for all they do daily to help people rebuild their lives in the aftermath of trauma and prevent abuse from happening in the first place.”
