WHAT – Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) is joining forces with the Baldwin and Roosevelt Public Libraries and the South Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department to host a Thanksgiving food drive in support of The NEST at Nassau Community College.
Now through Tuesday, Nov. 26, donors are invited to contribute canned goods, fruits and vegetables, dry goods and other non-perishable nutritional staples during normal business hours at the Baldwin Public Library, 2385 Grand Ave., Baldwin, N.Y. 11510; Roosevelt Public Library, 27 W. Fulton Ave., Roosevelt, N.Y. 11575; or the South Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department, 555 May St., South Hempstead, N.Y. 11550.
Short for “Nassau: Empowerment and Support for Tomorrow,” NEST is a 501 (c)3 not-for-profit organization focused on promoting health and wellness by maintaining a free-choice food pantry that provides food, personal care items, and support services to students, employees, and families in need. Their philanthropic efforts are supported by the College community, Long Island Cares and Island Harvest, corporate donors, civic and religious organizations, and more.
“By working to deliver vital nutrition assistance to anyone in need at Nassau Community College, the NEST serves as a vital lifeline that empowers everyone to thrive in their pursuits,” Legislator Mulé said. “Your support will make a tremendous difference, and I invite you to join us ahead of the Thanksgiving holidays by donating at one of our drop-off locations throughout the Sixth District. Let’s come together as a community to make this season brighter for everyone!”
