(BALDWIN, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) joined leaders of the Baldwin Union Free School District and her colleagues in government at Baldwin High School on Friday, Jan. 17 to celebrate the grand opening of the Future Jewelers Academy.
This is the latest in a series of award-winning academic academies at the high school, which seek to provide Baldwin students with “relevant educational and vocational experiences, leading to the development of strong academics, leadership, communication and career skills,” according to the district. In addition to completing core academic classes, Academy students take career-oriented electives that are supplemented by professional ‘shadow' days; internships inter-school, regional and national competitions and challenges; and an array of co-curricular and extracurricular clubs and activities.
“Baldwin High School’s academic academies provide an ideal blend of classroom learning and real-world experiences that encourage students to discover their passions as they explore opportunities in various professional fields,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “It was a pleasure to join the Baldwin High School community in celebrating a milestone that will create new opportunities for our students.”
