(BALDWIN and ROOSEVELT, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) delivered the proceeds of her office’s Women’s History Month supply drive to Bethany House on Thursday, April 3 in support of their outstanding work to support women and children experiencing homelessness.
During the month of March, donors contributed essentials such as toilet paper, paper towels, 13-gallon garbage bags, cases of water bottles, rideshare gift cards and grocery store gift cards at drop-off locations hosted by the Freeport Memorial Library, Baldwin Public Library and Roosevelt Public Library.
Bethany House operates shelters in Roosevelt and Baldwin, where they focus on fulfilling a mission of providing safe haven for healing and personal growth for women and mothers with children facing homelessness. In an effort to guide clients to more stable lives, permanent housing and self-sufficiency, staff and volunteers deliver trauma-informed services, comprehensive health care and dedicated case management that focuses on educational and employment growth opportunities.
“Bethany House does a tremendous job helping women and children in our community get back on their feet and rebuild their lives, and I was proud to work with them during Women’s History Month in support of their vital mission,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “I am so thankful to the Freeport, Baldwin and Roosevelt Libraries and all of our generous donors for making this effort a success – your contributions will help families break the cycle of homelessness and have a brighter future!”
