
(ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) joined leaders and supporters of Bethany House of Nassau County on Wednesday, March 19 at their 22nd Annual Fashion Show. During the event, Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé honored former board member Kia Moore for her years of selfless dedication and service to the women of Bethany House.
Bethany House operates shelters in Roosevelt and Baldwin, where they focus on fulfilling a mission of providing a safe haven for healing and personal growth for women and mothers with children facing homelessness. To guide clients to more stable lives, permanent housing and self-sufficiency, staff and volunteers deliver trauma-informed services, comprehensive health care and dedicated case management that focuses on educational and employment growth opportunities.
Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé’s office is currently hosting a Women’s History Month supply drive for Bethany House’s outstanding work to support women and children experiencing homelessness. Now through Monday, March 31, donors are invited to contribute toilet paper, paper towels, 13 gallon garbage bags, cases of water bottles, rideshare gift cards and grocery store gift cards during normal business hours at the Freeport Memorial Library, 144 W. Merrick Road, Freeport; Baldwin Public Library, 2385 Grand Ave., Baldwin, N.Y. 11510; or the Roosevelt Public Library, 27 W. Fulton Ave., Roosevelt, N.Y. 11575.
“Kia Moore has worked so tirelessly to make Bethany House a beacon of hope for women throughout our region, and I cannot think of a more deserving honoree for this year’s fashion show than her,” Alternate Deputy Minority Leader Mulé said. “Her story is truly incredible and an inspiration to us all, and it filled my heart with joy to join the Bethany House family in celebrating her achievements.”
