(BALDWIN, FREEPORT and SOUTH HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) – In communities across the Fifth Legislative District, Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) joined local veterans, community members, law enforcement personnel, first responders and her colleagues in government in Memorial Day tributes to the men and women who lost their lives while serving in America’s armed forces.
“Memorial Day is a somber day for not just the communities around us but for the families of those who lost loved ones in the armed forces,” Legislator Mulé said. “We must continue to remember and pay tribute to those men and women who sacrificed their lives for our great nation.”
During observances on Sunday, May 29, local veterans laid wreaths at the South Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department’s memorial monument in honor of local heroes who sacrificed their lives while protecting our everyday freedoms.
On Monday, May 30, Legislator Mulé attended Memorial Day ceremonies hosted by the American Legion Baldwin Post 246 and the William Clinton Story American Legion Post 352 of Freeport.
