(MINEOLA, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) joined with her Legislature colleagues and Rockville Centre Mayor Francis X. Murray to honor the Rockville Centre Police Department, the Rockville Centre Fire Department, and the office of the Nassau County Fire Marshal on Monday, Feb. 28. The recognition comes after they led a valiant response to a destructive gasoline tanker crash and explosion in the early morning hours of Wednesday, Feb. 16.
“We want to thank everyone for working so closely together and for working with such professionalism,” Legislator Mulé said. “We know what you are trained to do, but to see it happen in such a way under horrific circumstances was truly remarkable. We are so proud of you, and it is an honor to represent you.”
“I heard that it looked like a scene from ‘Die Hard.’ It looked like a movie scene, but what was real is your bravery and your ability to coordinate and work together to make sure everyone was safe,” said Nassau County Legislator Siela A. Bynoe (D - Westbury). “I thank you for everything you do day in and day out - may God keep you and bless you.”
