Minority Leader Abrahams and Legislator Mulé Welcome
Young Philanthropist Sabrina Guo to Distribute PPE at Freeport HS
WHAT: Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Kevan Abrahams (D - Freeport) and Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) welcome young philanthropist Sabrina Guo, founder of the student-run Long Island Laboring Against COVID-19 (LILAC), to Freeport High School, where she will be joining forces with the school district to distribute personal protective equipment (PPE) in conjunction with the school district’s grab-and-go meals program.
Ms. Guo, a 14-year-old rising 10th grader at Syosset High School from Oyster Bay Cove, was recommended and connected to the school district by Minority Leader Abrahams’ office based on her tireless relief efforts during the pandemic and her successful collaborations with Nassau County Legislator Joshua Lafazan (Woodbury).
After kick-starting LILAC with more than $40,000 of her own college and personal funds, the campaign has raised more than $81,000 and delivered more than 120,000 PPE for frontline health professionals, essential workers, and other high-risk populations; distributed meals to families in need; and raised spirits through ongoing LILAC’s “ThankYou & WeCare” Arts Initiative.
