(UNIONDALE and FREEPORT, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) celebrated Freeport High School’s Class of 2020 during a drive-in commencement ceremony held outside Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, June 20. This unique event was devised as an innovative approach to hosting graduation ceremonies while observing physical distancing protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“While the ongoing pandemic forced all of us to reinvent our approach to this cherished rite of passage, the accomplishments of Freeport High School’s class of 2020 will shine through and lift our spirits no matter the setting,” Legislator Mulé said. “I wish this outstanding group of young scholars good health, continued success and the very best of luck as they embark upon this next chapter of their lives.”
