(MINEOLA, N.Y.) – On Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, the Hempstead Town Board voted to approve The Grand at Baldwin following extensive advocacy from Baldwin civic leaders and community residents. It is the first major downtown revitalization project that the Town Board has approved within Baldwin’s mixed-use overlay district.
Following today’s vote, Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) issued the following statement:
“After more than three decades of promises, it is encouraging to see that the Town of Hempstead is heeding the demands of Baldwin residents by taking this important first step toward downtown revitalization,” Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) said. “I am hopeful that today’s long-awaited victory will serve as a major catalyst for getting shovels into the ground and elevating Baldwin as a beacon of community-driven smart growth in our region.”
