(MINEOLA, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) honored Lieutenant Joseph Brown from the Baldwin Fire Department and Assistant Chief Anthony Sotira from the Freeport Fire Department for their respective roles in a fire rescue on Friday, Nov. 4 in Roosevelt.
In recognition of the bravery, professionalism, and selflessness that they demonstrated, Legislator Mulé presented the firefighters with a Nassau County Legislature Citation during the body’s full meeting on Monday, Nov. 21. She was joined by Minority Leader Kevan M. Abrahams (D – Freeport) in lauding their efforts.
“Day in and day out, the men and women of our local volunteer fire departments risk their lives and make tremendous sacrifices to protect our communities,” Legislator Abrahams said. “It does not go unnoticed, and we are truly indebted to all of our courageous volunteer firefighters and first responders for their commitment to helping others.”
“It is truly inspiring to see so many people working together to protect life in our community,” Legislator Mulé said. “Having gone through a fire myself, I know that this is a debt of gratitude we can never fully repay, and we are all so thankful to these brave and selfless men and women for all they do for our communities.”
