(BALDWIN, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) and New York State Assemblywoman Judy Griffin partnered with Sanitary District No. 2 to host a successful summer cleanup that drew dozens of volunteers to Baldwin’s Lofts Pond on Saturday, July 9.
Using bags, shovels, brooms, equipment and a garbage truck provided by Sani 2, members of the Baldwin Bombers Youth Football program, Boy Scouts of America Baldwin Troop 182, the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, Venturing Crew 577, Operation SPLASH, Hangout One Happy Place, and the Green Army worked alongside local residents, park lovers and environmentalists to clear the park of litter and deliver some much-deserved summertime TLC.
“The outpouring of support that we witnessed from every corner of the community just goes to show how special Lofts Pond Park is for Baldwin residents,” Legislator Mulé said. “It was a pleasure to work alongside Assemblywoman Griffin, Sani 2 and so many dedicated volunteers to beautify this cherished green space in our community and protect the environment from the perils posed by litter and plastic pollution.”
