(WEST HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) joined the leaders and members of the Iroquois District of the Boy Scouts of America’s Theodore Roosevelt Council on Saturday, May 21 for the kickoff of their annual camporee at Hempstead Lake State Park.
During the event, Legislator Mulé spoke to more than 200 Scouts who were gathered for a fun-filled weekend of camping and outdoor activities. The camporee included participants from 24 communities across Nassau County.
“It was a pleasure to speak to these young people and encourage them to continue to make a difference in their communities and the world around them,” Legislator Mulé said. “For generations, the Camporee has enabled local Scouts to strengthen their leadership and problem-solving skills while immersed in the great outdoors. I applaud the leaders of the Iroquois District Council for continuing this important tradition.”
