(GARDEN CITY, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) joined the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, local law enforcement and community leaders, enthusiastic volunteers, and her colleagues in local government on Wednesday, May 11 to initiate the shipping of more than 80,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to American military bases around the world as part of “Operation - Cookie.”
As part of their effort to provide military members a taste of home, local Girl Scout troops have been collecting donations from their customers since December 2021. Each year, the Girl Scouts of Nassau County partner with DHL Express to get the cookies they gathered to our troops. In addition, the Girl Scouts provide local first responders with their signature cookies as a token of appreciation for all that they do daily.
“Each year, the Girl Scouts of Nassau County harness the generosity of our community to bring comfort to servicemembers and first responders through their ‘Operation - Cookie’ campaign,” Legislator Mulé said. “It was a pleasure to lend a hand with loading the trucks that will soon deliver smiles to people who do so much to keep us safe on a daily basis.”
