(MERRICK, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) and his family supported the Merrick Union Free School District Birch School’s Pick a Reading Partner program during a special fundraiser at McDonald’s on Wednesday, Jan. 24.
Any Merrick McDonald’s patron who mentioned the Birch School when ordering during the 5 to 7 p.m. dinner rush had a portion of their bill donated toward the school’s PARP program, which is part of a New York State PTA initiative that asks a family member, friend, or other older partner to read with a child for at least 20 minutes each day.
“As parents, we know how important it is to expose our children to books from an early age in order to build a foundation of literacy and a lifelong love for language,” Legislator Koslow said. “My family and I had a great time supporting our local public schools and thank everyone at the Merrick McDonald’s for helping to make this fundraiser so successful.”
