Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) partnered with the Nassau County Board of Elections to present the “Know Your Voting Rights” seminar and voter registration program at the Freeport Memorial Library on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
During this National Voter Registration Day event, participants learned how to register to vote; complete a ballot; cast a ballot on the DS200 machine; and how utilize accessibility aids for disabled voters and language assistance resources. Attendees also learned more about how to vote early and via absentee ballot, as well as opportunities to be an Election Day poll worker.
“It is always a pleasure to work with the Nassau County Board of Elections and the Freeport Library to help Fifth Legislative District residents get engaged in the democratic process,” Legislator Mulé said. “For anyone who has not done so already, I encourage you to register to vote, learn more about the issues that matter most to you, and make a plan to ensure that your voice is heard at the ballot box this November.”
New voters must postmark or hand-deliver their registration by Friday, Oct. 14 (mailed applications must be received no later than Wednesday, Oct. 19). For other key deadlines and to apply for an absentee ballot, visit https://www.nassaucountyny.gov/3409/Political-Calendar for complete details.
