(FREEPORT, N.Y.) - In recognition of March as Women’s History Month, Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) recently honored Jenny Jorge, partner at Freeport’s GalaFresh Farms Supermarkets.
Jenny’s family has been in the supermarket business since 1978 and Jenny herself began helping at the family business at 15 years old. She received her MBA degree from Fordham and played a vital role in the launch of GalaFresh Farms and Gala Foods Supermarkets. Today, Jenny and her family own and operate multiple supermarkets on Long Island, as well as in New Jersey and North Carolina.
In addition to her business ventures, Jenny volunteers her free time in the community with organizations like the Freeport Chamber of Commerce, various little leagues, and the Freeport PTA Council.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic, supermarkets remaining open and staffed - even while everyone else stayed home - was vital to the community,” Legislator Mulé said. “Jenny, her family, and their entire team went above and beyond to ensure things ran smoothly and that people were as safe as possible while in their stores. It was my pleasure to recognize Jenny during Women’s History Month for her year-round commitment to the Freeport community!”
