(MUTTONTOWN, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) secured $90,966 in bond authorization in Nassau County’s Fiscal Year 2025 Capital Infrastructure Plan to fund the Incorporated Village of Muttontown’s purchase of a new police car.
The Wednesday, April 23 vote to allocate the funds as part of a $1.3 million package of capital plan funding and bond authorizations for 14 public safety agencies represents a major victory for the Minority Caucus. Democratic lawmakers successfully leveraged their votes on the capital infrastructure plan – which requires a 13-vote supermajority to pass - to end the Blakeman administration’s more than yearlong freeze on first responder grants and other crucial community projects for districts represented by Democratic legislators.
Deputy Minority Leader Drucker applied for this funding with the County administration on Sept. 18, 2024.
“Public safety must always transcend politics – and that is why the Democratic Minority Caucus stood its ground and fought as one to equitably fund the police, firefighters and first responders that so bravely and selflessly protect our communities on a daily basis,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “This victory is a triumph for communities across Nassau County and the principles of fair governance – and I am proud to have secured significant funding that will support the Muttontown Police Department in its public safety mission.”
