(MINEOLA, N.Y.) – On Tuesday, July 16, New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced a record State investment of nearly $51 million for public safety on Long Island. Nassau County agencies received $1,494,692 and Suffolk County agencies received $1,307,677 for the GIVE funding cycle that runs from July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2025.

This funding also includes approximately $21.1 million in one-time capital funding to 39 police departments and sheriffs’ offices – including millions for the Nassau County Police and Sheriff Departments, $704,000 for the Old Westbury Police Department, $147,716 for the Muttontown PD and $95,100 for the Brookville PD to purchase law enforcement technology and equipment to allow those agencies more effectively solve, reduce and prevent crime.

Following the announcement, Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) issued the following statement:

“This significant allocation of supplemental resources for the Nassau County Police Department, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Department and our local village police agencies will empower the men and women of law enforcement to further elevate their service to the communities they have taken an oath to serve and protect,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “I thank Governor Hochul for continuing to prioritize public safety and continuing to support Nassau’s first responders in their work to keep this the safest county of its size in the United States.”
