(PLAINVIEW, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) marked Small Business Saturday on Nov. 25 with a visit to Trio Hardware in Plainview and owner Todd Kirschner.
First observed in the United States on November 27, 2010, Small Business Saturday is an initiative spearheaded by American Express and amplified by local chambers of commerce that seeks to encourage holiday shoppers to shop at small, locally owned businesses as compared to big-box stores and online retailers.
“Small Business Saturday is a celebration of entrepreneurs like Todd who create employment opportunities for our neighbors, give back to the communities they serve, and give our local downtowns their unique charm and flair,” Legislator Drucker said. “That is why it is so important to support local businesses during the holiday season and throughout the year, and I am glad that Small Business Saturday shines a light on this important message each year.”
