Drucker Celebrates Harry Chapin’s Legacy at ‘Just Wild About Harry’ Birthday Bash Concert

Just Wild About Harry 2024

(PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Deputy Minority Leader Arnold W. Drucker (D – Plainview) joined hundreds at Port Washington’s Landmark on Main Street’s Jeanne Rimsky Theater on Tuesday, Dec. 3 for the “Just Wild About Harry” birthday bash concert. More than three dozen performers and bands took the stage ahead of what would have been Harry Chapin’s 82nd birthday and paid tribute to the life, music, and advocacy of Harry Chapin.

All proceeds from the concert were donated to Long Island Cares – the food bank Chapin established – and attendees were encouraged to bring donations of non-perishable goods to further support the hunger-fighting mission of Long Island Cares.

“For more than two decades, the ‘Just Wild About Harry’ concerts have so beautifully spotlighted Harry Chapin’s philanthropic work and tireless efforts to make our world a better place,” Deputy Minority Leader Drucker said. “As we commemorate the 50th anniversary of one of his biggest songs, ‘Cat’s in the Cradle,’ it was especially meaningful to see so many outstanding performers honoring Long Island’s greatest musical storyteller. I applaud Stuart Markus and the entire ‘Just Wild About Harry’ team for organizing this outstanding event and heeding Harry’s missive to ‘do something’ to fight hunger.”
