Nassau County Legislator Judy Jacobs (D-Woodbury) recently attended the Autism Speaks Walk held on Sunday, October 5th at Jones Beach. The event is held in local communities nationwide throughout the year, and is Autism Speaks’ largest fundraising event. The recent event at Jones Beach was a huge success, with tens of thousands of residents walking and showing their support for Autism Speaks. Additionally, these same residents were able to raise $767,451 just at the Jones Beach Walk alone.
"The annual Autism Speaks Walk is always a great experience. My family and friends were there to support my grandson Spencer who was diagnosed with autism at 15 months old. In fact, our group was called TEAM SPENCER,” Jacobs said. “Through early intervention and loving care he has made great strides, and this walk, which raises hundreds of thousands of dollars, helps to provide the services which can literally change the lives of autistic children. It is very emotional to see the love in the faces of all who participate."
