LEGISLATOR GAYLOR TO HOST NARCAN TRAINING/OVERDOSE PREVENTION WORKSHOP
Tuesday, February 25, 2020 • 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Hewlett Fire Department – 25 Franklin Ave., Hewlett
You can save the life of a loved one from overdose!
Nassau County has been addressing the opioid crisis on multiple fronts, one of them is educating its residents on the use of Naloxone, also known by the trade name NARCAN. Legislator Bill Gaylor is hosting a community forum along with representatives from the Nassau County Office of Mental Health, Chemical Dependency and Developmental Disabilities to help residents, first responders and human service staff learn how and when to administer the lifesaving antidote that can reverse the fatal effects of an Opioid overdose and save a person’s life. The free NARCAN training also offers community resources, speakers and information on the latest treatment approaches.
Despite the many obstacles that persist, the primary goal is to help prevent drug related deaths and provide individuals in need with a second chance at recovery, improved health, and a better quality of life.
