(FREEPORT, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé joined with hospital officials, local government officials, and students from Freeport’s De La Salle School on Friday, Jan. 12 to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital in Freeport. During the event, Legislator Mulé recognized the winners of the De La Salle School’s commemorative art contest for their inspiring efforts, and congratulated Amber Vitale, MSN, FNP-C and Pilar Stevens-Haynes, MD on receiving the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Service Award.
“For America to become a more perfect nation, it is vital for Dr. King’s hopeful message of justice, racial equity and inclusion to resonate with our next generation of leaders, and this art contest is one important way that we impart Dr. King’s values in our youth,” Legislator Mulé said. “I was delighted to see the creativity that was inspired by his legacy, and thank the MSSN Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Committee for organizing this event.”
