(GLEN COVE, N.Y.) - Ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D - Glen Cove) joined with Island Harvest on Thursday, Nov. 19 to host a turkey and food distribution event at the Butler Street senior apartments in Glen Cove. More than 100 families received Thanksgiving staples and other essentials as part of Island Harvest’s ongoing efforts to address food insecurity. Recipients also received a dessert package compliments of the Do Good to Feel Good team, a grassroots philanthropic effort spearheaded by Glen Cove City Councilwoman Dr. Eve Lupenko Ferrante. “For months, Island Harvest has been on the forefront of critical efforts to meet the increased demand for assistance created by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said. “I applaud them for their tireless efforts and thank everyone who had a hand in hosting this event - one that touched the lives of so many deserving families at the start of this holiday season.”
