(GLEN COVE, N.Y.) – In observance of October as Italian American History Month in America, Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) was honored by the City of Glen Cove on Tuesday, Oct. 22 for her contributions to the local Italian American community. She received a City of Glen Cove Citation alongside Joseph Gallo, Sr. on behalf of Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America Glen Cove Loggia 1016 with President Marisa Gambino. “Throughout my life, the Sons of Italy have been such a special part of my entire family’s life, and I cherish my Italian American heritage and the tremendously close-knit community that continues to thrive here in Glen Cove,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “It was tremendously special to be recognized at City Hall and share this with honor with the Gallo family and the Sons of Italy, which has so positively impacted my life for so many years, and I thank the Mayor and City Council for recognizing October as Italian American Heritage Month and flying the flag at City Hall.”
