(MULTIPLE LOCATIONS - NASSAU COUNTY, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D - Glen Cove) commemorated the 20th anniversary of 9/11 by joining the community at multiple ceremonies held in the 11th Legislative District and across Nassau County.
Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton attended Nassau County’s 20th anniversary remembrance and recitation of names ceremony at Eisenhower Park on Thursday, Sept. 9. During the ceremony, a First Responders Memorial was unveiled as a lasting tribute the Nassau who succumbed to the 9/11-related illnesses they sustained while responding to the aftermath of the terror attacks. On Saturday, Sept. 11, she attended commemoration ceremonies in Manorhaven, Sea Cliff, and the City of Glen Cove’s Morgan Park.
“Let us never forget the innocent people who were so cruelly taken from us 20 years ago - many of them first responders rushing toward the World Trade Center to save lives,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said. “My gratitude will always be with our heroic first responders; the men and women who serve in our armed forces, and every person who stepped up to bring comfort to another person in their community in the aftermath of the attacks - God bless you all.”
