(SEA CLIFF, N.Y.) – On Thursday, Aug. 15, the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) approved Liberty Water’s request for a three-year rate hike. In Sea Cliff, customers will experience a 9.2 percent increase this year and 4.5 percent hikes in both 2026 and 2027. In response to the decision, Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) issued the following statement:
“Yet another Liberty Water price hike - one that is especially egregious for their severely overcharged and underserved Sea Cliff ratepayers - illustrates the importance of ending corporate control of our drinking water as quickly as possible,” Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) said. “My office has requested a progress update on where the North Shore Water Authority stands with its public takeover of this vital service, and we will continue to work closely with local government and civic leaders to do what is necessary to finally bring Liberty Water’s reign of error to an end.”
