WHAT – Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) is pleased to announce that the New York State Citizen Preparedness Corps returning to the Port Washington Public Library at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7 for an Emergency Preparedness Workshop.
Presented by the State’s Citizen Preparedness Corps, the workshops are designed to equip residents with the tools and resources to prepare for any type of natural or man-made disaster, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. Each family participating will receive a free Citizen Preparedness Corps Response Starter Kit filled with emergency prep essentials like a radio, flashlight, batteries, freshwater packets, food packs, heavy-duty gloves, tarp, emergency blanket, water container, glow stick and whistle.
Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton’s springtime Citizen Preparedness Corps workshop at the Port Washington Library filled to capacity; she is also hosting an emergency workshop at the Glen Cove Senior Center at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
“Emergency preparation is such an important way to protect your family and give yourself some peace of mind, and it is understandable why these workshops are in such high demand in our region,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “I am proud to once again partner with the State and the Port Washington Library to bring these vital resources to our community.”
