(GLEN HEAD, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) is pleased to announce that important drainage work and improvements on Glen Cove Avenue near North Shore High School in Glen Head are scheduled to begin on Monday, May 20.
Weather permitting, the project spanning Glen Cove Avenue’s intersections with Club Road, Plymouth Drive South, and Harbor Way, is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete, according to the Nassau County Department of Public Works. Motorists who rely upon these roads are encouraged to plan for temporary delays and/or use alternate routes until the work is completed.
This announcement is the latest in a series of projects across District 11 in recent weeks. Nassau DPW has undertaken milling and repaving work on Scudders Lane from Glenwood Road to Glen Cove Avenue in Glen Head/Roslyn Harbor; West Shore Road in Port Washington, Glen Cove Avenue in downtown Glen Cove, and Duck Pond Road in Glen Cove. Pedestrian signals have also been added at the crossings for Shore and Harbor Roads in Port Washington; as part of that project, the existing signal at Mill Pond Road will also be rebuilt to add pedestrian crossing signals.
Earlier this month, the Legislature’s Rules committee signed off on nearly $15 million in contracts for sewer system upgrade. The work encompasses the full rehabilitation of the for the Knott Drive (Glen Head), Morgan Park, Viola Drive (both Glen Cove) and Roslyn pump stations, the conversion of the Knott Drive ejector station into a submersible pump station, and construction management services related to the Harwood Ejector Station and Southridge Pump Station improvement projects in Glen Cove.
