Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton Attends PD Graduation Ceremony

(GARDEN CITY, N.Y.) - Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D - Glen Cove) joined County Executive Laura Curran, Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder, and colleagues on Wednesday, Sept. 15 to celebrate the graduation of 183 Police Academy graduates.

Of the 183 graduates, 168 are members of the Nassau County Police Department, with the remainder coming from an array of village police departments. In addition, 10 Nassau County Police Medics graduated during Wednesday’s ceremony, which marked the culmination of seven months of intense basic training.

“It was a pleasure to witness our first graduation for the first group of cadets to complete their training at the Nassau County Police Academy. Locally, I am especially delighted that Port Washington will receive four new officers from this class,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton, ranking member of the Legislature’s Public Safety Committee, said. “I wish everyone all of the graduates the best of luck in their careers - may they be safe, and as Commissioner Ryder said, may each officer treat everyone they encounter as they would want their family members to be treated.”
