DeRiggi-Whitton Votes to Approve $1.72M Contract to Advance Critical Sewer Work in Glen Cove

(GLEN COVE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) applauded the Monday, Dec. 16 approval of a contract that that will advance a critical sanitary sewer infrastructure project in Glen Cove.

The Rules Committee, of which Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton is ranking member, voted unanimously to award a $1.72 million contract to Philip Ross Industries for general construction services related to the replacement of outdated and obsolete equipment at the Harwood Dive ejector station and the Southridge Drive pump station in Glen Cove.

“Maintaining our sanitary sewer system may not be one of the most glamorous assignments we have as elected officials, but ensuring their seamless operation is absolutely crucial for safeguarding public health and elevating our quality of life across Nassau County,” Minority Leader DeRiggi-Whitton said. “This contract will help to advance critical sewer system upgrades in the City of Glen Cove, and I am glad to see that it was approved unanimously.”

Previously this spring, the County authorized a $772,455.84 construction management services contract with Gannett Fleming Engineers and Architects related to the project. In other sewer-related actions, the Rules committee has authorized nearly $15 million in contracts for sewer system upgrades encompassing the full rehabilitation of the Knott Drive (Glen Head), Morgan Park, Viola Drive (both Glen Cove) and Roslyn pump stations, the conversion of the Knott Drive ejector station into a submersible pump station, and improvement, and has approved contracts to advance the Glen Cove Wastewater Treatment Plant Sludge Dewatering Project.
