(MINEOLA, N.Y.) - Thousands of Long Islanders, including religious leaders, elected officials and citizens, joined forces for the Long Island March Against Anti-Semitism on Sunday, Jan. 12. The march was one of the bi-county Task Force Against Anti-Semitism and Symbols of Hate’s inaugural initiatives.
“We have to promise to really remember the way we grew up - which is loving our neighbors and being proud of the diversity of America,” Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D - Glen Cove) said. “Anne Frank once said, ‘I still believe, in spite of everything, that people are truly good at heart.’ The thousands of people that marched to denounce anti-Semitism and hatred show us all what is possible when those good people unite.”
