Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton Celebrates Launch of NassauStopBullying.org
(JERICHO, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) joined her Legislature colleagues, County Executive Laura Curran, Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder and anti-bullying advocates to unveil NassauStopBullying.org, the County’s new bullying prevention resource website, at Jericho High School on Wednesday, Sept. 12.
The website, which was the outgrowth of legislation sponsored by her colleague, Legislator Joshua Lafazan and created by Nassau County’s Department of Information Technology in coordination with the Department of Health and Human Services and the Nassau County Police Department, contains: definitions of bullying; explanations of different types of bullying; guidance for spotting bullies and bullying; and bullying prevention resources.
NassauStopBullying.org will be regularly updated and contain the names and contact information for each Nassau County school district’s Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) school coordinator.
Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton added, “As a mother of three, I realize how much stress families facing these types of situations endure. It is important that information be as organized and readily available as possible. I am glad this Website will be providing this assistance. NassauStopBullying.org is an effective, one-stop tool that ensures these tools are just a click away. I applaud Legislator Lafazan’s efforts for making this website a reality and thank my colleagues and County Executive Curran for their support.”
