Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton Advocates For Shuttle Service Connecting Port Washington and Roslyn LIRR Stations
(MINEOLA, N.Y.) - On Car Free Day in Nassau County, Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D – Glen Cove) joined Port Washington community leaders to push for the creation of a NICE bus shuttle route that would connect the Amsterdam at Harborside assisted living community and nearby industrial parks to the Port Washington and Roslyn LIRR stations.
The pilot program would provide shuttle bus service that is synchronized to incoming trains during the morning and evening rush hours at the Port Washington and Roslyn train stations. Precise stop locations are still being determined, as are supplemental plans for accommodating certain riders requiring transportation during off-peak times.
Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton hosted a Friday, Sept. 21 meeting between community advocates, Nassau County and NICE bus officials to further explore the proposed pilot program.
“I am committed to working closely with County Executive Curran’s team and NICE bus officials to ensure flexible, cost-effective solutions that meet the transportation needs of residents and workers are implemented,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said.
