(GLEN COVE, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton (D - Glen Cove) met with the organizers of the City of Glen Cove Youth Bureau’s annual backpack giveaway and donated school supplies in support of the effort during a Wednesday, Aug. 15 visit.
Fueled by community-wide support from local businesses, government offices and not-for-profit community organizations, the Youth Bureau, under the leadership of Marketing Director Dr. Charmaine Clarke, provided stuffed backpacks to more than 300 K-8th grade students last year and supplied high school students with essentials.
“For more than a decade, the Glen Cove Youth Bureau has done outstanding work to ensure every child in our community is well equipped to excel in the new school year. I am proud to join the Glen Cove community in its continued support for this important initiative,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said.
