[ARCHIVED] Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton Honors Amy Bass of Port Washington for Women’s Histor

Delia DeRiggi-Whitton, Nassau County Legislator, 11th LD, was delighted to honor Port Washington community leader Amy G. Bass on March 24 at the Sixteenth Annual Trailblazers Awards Ceremony at the Chambers of the Nassau County Legislature. As part of Women's History Month, Nassau County Legislators honor outstanding women in their legislative districts who have "blazed trails" through the wonderful work they do in their communities.

Amy G. Bass has worked tirelessly as a community leader for years blazing trails to make the great community of Port Washington an even more wonderful place. Mrs. Bass is a long-time president of the Friends of the Port Washington Public Library.She is a former president of the Port Washington Board of Education. She was the founding president of the Port Washington Education Foundation (PWEF), a not-for-profit organization which supports educational initiatives beyond the school budget. She serves the League of Women Voters of Port Washington-Manhasset as Vice President and Chair of its annual State of the Town Luncheon in North Hempstead.She is a 25-year board member and former vice president of the Community Chest of Port Washington. Mrs. Bass is also a board member of the Nassau BOCES Educational Foundation.

While her list of accomplishments is too long to write, there is no doubt that Mrs. Bass's work has made Port Washington and Nassau County a better place.

"It was an honor to be chosen as a trail blazer," said Mrs. Bass, who continued, "I am thankful to Delia DeRiggi-Whitton for recognizing me and grateful for all the opportunities for community service that Port Washington has offered."
